HOW ZYLARIA® WORKS

As night approaches, the body and mind should naturally begin to relax and signal that it’s time for sleep. Unfortunately, for many people, this process does not occur due to various factors. One essential amino acid the body requires for this process is called Gamma-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) which allows the brain to communicate these important messages throughout the body.

GABA acts as a neurotransmitter in the brain, promoting relaxation.1 GABA-T breaks down GABA into SSA and glutamate. Glutamate plays a role in starting and keeping our sleep/wake cycles in balance.2 GAD (glutamic acid decarboxylase) is an enzyme that plays a critical role in the balance of neurotransmitters in the brain, specifically GABA. By converting glutamate to GABA, GAD helps to keep the balance of neurotransmitters in the brain in check, which is important for maintaining normal brain function, including sleep/wake cycles.

Adenosine has long been known to induce sleep via adenosine receptors.3 Finally, genistein supports the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) mRNA and protein levels.4 Several studies show that low levels of BDNF in the brain could be related to lower mood and inadequate sleep quality.5

NuLiv Science preclinical studies on Zylaria® demonstrated elevated GABA content in brain cells by increasing GABA content and GAD activity. Zylaria® also demonstrated in a human trial to support the sleep quality and mood of tested subjects.
